Silver Mountain is located in Kellog, Idaho which is a short 30-minute drive away from the lodge and campground. There is something to do for everyone no matter what time of year it is. If you want to visit in the summer you can enjoy biking the various trails. If the winter is really your thing though that is when Silver Mountain gets busy.
There is tubing available starting at 9 am and going for two hours. The tickets are cheap and it is something that the whole family can enjoy. When you choose to go tubing there is no need to hike back up to the top because you are given a gondola ride back up to the top.
For those that are more competitive the Silver Mountain Alpine Race Team (SMART) is made for children ages 5 to 17 years old who love the snow and racing. They are divided up into two groups the first one is 4-8 years old and for them to practice fundamentals as well as get coaching. The next group is the 5 to 17-year-olds who want to push themselves to the next level.
For those that want to learn how to ski people are broken up into five categories. The first one is never ever been before, the next is a beginner with a little bit of experience, the third level is those that are comfortable with the greens and can ride chairs without help. The fourth category is considered intermediate and they are comfortable on the greens and groomed blues and last but not least we have the advanced groups. These people are good on the whole mountain. Guests can grab an hour with an instructor or even multiple hours to help hone their skills.
